A bit about me...
Drumming has been my life since… well since I’ve really been able to hold a pair of drumsticks.
It all started when I was 3 years old and my dad always use to sit me on his knee behind a drum kit. He’d give me a pair of sticks and I’d just sit there and tap away in the least rhythmic way possible. So from there I took lessons.
My next step after this was to start doing my ‘Rockschool’ grades. By the time I was 16, I completed my grade 8 and decided after that it was time to start properly gigging.
At age 17 I joined a local band on the scene and from there I got my first few ‘proper’ gigs. The group disbanded and after that I joined a small tribute act with other members of the previous band. A few years on and a lot of gigs later, this act has started to take off and now we find ourselves playing all over the country as ’The Premium Tribute’ to the Arctic Monkeys, the ‘Arctic Numpties’.
As well as this act, I’ve been fortunate enough to help out many other artists with session work, whether this be live or in the studio.
In 2019 I enrolled on the 'Music Production with Popular Performance' course at Leeds Conservatoire. I used the following three years to complete my course and hone in on my weaker skills as a drummer and a musician in general, and here is where I learnt and built the groundworks to prepare me for professional studio sessions and live gig scenarios.
In the summer of 2022 I started offering private drum tuition and from there I developed ‘Smart Drum’s School’, providing lessons for all ages and abilities. To book a lesson today, visit the ’Smart Drum’s School’ page of the website.
